Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 83 × 120 cm. It covers approximately 1 m², or 2.7' × 3.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
