The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 84 × 120 cm. The covered area is about 1.01 m² (2.8' × 3.9'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
