At a glance
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Oriental rug of 184 × 132 cm. The covered area is about 2.43 m² (6' × 4.3').
Construction
Construction: wool in the pile over a cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as approx. 6 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
