This Qom comes from Iran and measures 100 × 60 cm. The covered area is about 0.6 m² (3.3' × 2'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
Construction: Handgesponnene Wolle in the pile over a cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
