Overview
Origin Iran, format 133 × 201 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 2.67 m² (4.4' × 6.6'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
