About this rug
A Qom from Iran, measuring 152 × 223 cm. The covered area is about 3.39 m² (5' × 7.3'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
The stated colourway is multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Period
Stated condition: new.
