Overview
A Shiraz from Iran, measuring 183 × 260 cm. That is roughly 4.76 m² of floor, about 6' × 8.5'. Shiraz rugs come from a nomadic weaving tradition.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
