About this rug
A Isfahan from Iran, measuring 200 × 303 cm. The covered area is about 6.06 m² (6.6' × 9.9'). Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under black and grey. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
