Overview
This Isfahan comes from Iran and measures 72 × 110 cm. That is roughly 0.79 m² of floor, about 2.4' × 3.6'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% silk. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
