Origin Iran, format 83 × 132 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 1.1 m² (2.7' × 4.3'). Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.

Materials and construction

Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
