The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 99 × 153 cm. It covers approximately 1.51 m², or 3.2' × 5'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 600,000–699,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
