Overview
Origin Iran, format 150 × 95 cm — a Moud made entirely by hand. That is roughly 1.43 m² of floor, about 4.9' × 3.1'. Moud rugs are known for their fine Herati pattern.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as wool, silk, warp as cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 4 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as multicolour. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
