Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 50 × 78 cm. That is roughly 0.39 m² of floor, about 1.6' × 2.6'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
