The piece in short

Origin Iran, format 200 × 200 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 4 m² (6.6' × 6.6'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 12-15mm.

Size and placement

The rug is round. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.

How it reads

Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
