About this rug
A Tabriz from India, measuring 252 × 354 cm. That is roughly 8.92 m² of floor, about 8.3' × 11.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Period
Stated condition: new.
