Overview
This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 100 × 150 cm. The covered area is about 1.5 m² (3.3' × 4.9'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
