About this rug
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 102 × 160 cm. That is roughly 1.63 m² of floor, about 3.3' × 5.2'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, Korkwolle, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
