Overview
This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 148 × 200 cm. It covers approximately 2.96 m², or 4.9' × 6.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
