Overview

Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 200 × 300 cm. That is roughly 6 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 9.8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

How it reads

It is catalogued under red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
