Overview
Origin Iran, format 200 × 302 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 6.04 m² (6.6' × 9.9'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
It is catalogued under Braun / Gelb. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
