The piece in short
This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 200 × 305 cm. The covered area is about 6.1 m² (6.6' × 10'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
