The piece in short
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 70 × 140 cm. That is roughly 0.98 m² of floor, about 2.3' × 4.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
