The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 70 × 55 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 0.39 m² (2.3' × 1.8'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. Pile height is given as Normal.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
