About this rug
This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 80 × 132 cm. That is roughly 1.06 m² of floor, about 2.6' × 4.3'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
