About this rug
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 80 × 296 cm. The covered area is about 2.37 m² (2.6' × 9.7'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
This size typically covers the floor in front of a seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
The stated colourway is Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
