The piece in short
A Tabriz from India, measuring 125 × 185 cm. That is roughly 2.31 m² of floor, about 4.1' × 6.1'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
