The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 125 × 183 cm. That is roughly 2.29 m² of floor, about 4.1' × 6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
