Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 255 × 350 cm. The covered area is about 8.93 m² (8.4' × 11.5'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
