A hand-knotted Kashmir rug from India, 340 × 246 cm. Indian rather than Persian in origin, Kashmir weaving follows Persian layout closely. Around 4.6 million knots went into this piece (500,000-599,999 knots/sqm) — a knot count that balances detail against durability. Pile 100% silk, warp 100% cotton. A silk pile shifts tone as you move past it — the same field reads light from one side of the room and dark from the other. The cotton foundation holds it flat and dimensionally stable. At 8.36 m² it takes a sofa and two chairs with the front legs on the rug. Proportion 1.38:1. Every rug here is a single piece — there is no second one in this size and colour.
