Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 241 × 335 cm. The covered area is about 8.07 m² (7.9' × 11'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
