The piece in short
Hand-knotted in India: a Tabriz of 87 × 341 cm. That is roughly 2.97 m² of floor, about 2.9' × 11.2'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Size and placement
The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age
Stated condition: new.
