About this rug
A Tabriz from India, measuring 201 × 295 cm. It covers approximately 5.93 m², or 6.6' × 9.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
