Hand-knotted in Iran: a Qom of 198 × 315 cm. That is roughly 6.24 m² of floor, about 6.5' × 10.3'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
