Overview
This Tabriz comes from India and measures 252 × 353 cm. It covers approximately 8.9 m², or 8.3' × 11.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
